From ingredient sourcing to production and packaging, we’re kinder to the planet at every step. Our journey to being as environmentally responsible as possible is never ending – we constantly improve our processes to save energy and resources wherever we can, from factory to sale. We use sustainably-sourced plant and mineral based ingredients over petrochemical ones wherever possible. We’ve also had our products independently tested to make sure you can use them if you have a septic tank or greywater system.

A work of art

We're privileged to be working with one of New Zealand’s foremost artists - John Reynolds, whose artwork features on our packaging. His looping and linking lines suggest innocence, joy and connectedness.The simplicity of the drawings shows a restraint that playfully hints at ecostore’s ethos of simplicity, our ‘less is more’ approach to product formulation. Like John’s work, what we leave out is just as important as what we put in.

It can be really hard to know what’s in the products you buy every day to care for your skin or to clean your home, which is why we’ve worked really hard to make products you can trust. We carefully select gentle plant and mineral-based ingredients that let you and your family live clean and take harmful chemicals out of your home.

Malcolm Rands started ecostore with his wife Melanie in their home in an eco-village in New Zealand in 1993. They’d been using sustainable and organic gardening practices on their property for many years but realised they were still being exposed to way too many toxic chemicals through the cleaning and body care products they were using.
